Four channel frequency data logger

SGT Engineering's four channel frequency data logger was designed for measuring and recording sensors which output a variable frequency signal in relation to some measured parameter.

This data logger is compatible with the CS615 soil moisture probe from Campbell Scientific©.

• Power requirements: 6 to 18 vdc.
• Less than 200 microamps current consumption while logging.

Additionally this datalogger includes protection against accidentally attaching the power supply backwards, a combination of zener diodes and transient voltage suppressors on both the input and switched output to protect against momentary voltage spikes/shorts. The switched output features a user specified delay from 1 to 65,535 milliseconds to allow for the sensor outputs to stabilize prior to measurement.

Requirements for use

• A PC with an available serial port running HyperTerminal (standard on Windows 95, 98, NT) for configuring the logger and collecting data.
• A standard 9 pin male/female RS232 cable.
• A suitable power source (6 to 18 vdc).
• An enclosure to provide protection for the data logger.

Data Storage

The number of time and date stamped samples that can be stored depends upon the number of channels selected for recording.

The contents of memory will be retained for up to ten years in the absence of power.

Setting the logger up is simple.

• Set the real time clock.
• Set the log interval.
• Set the delay value to allow the sensor output to stabilize.
• Give the logger a unique I.D.

All settings are retained in non-volatile memory until changed by the user.

The datalogger's real time clock is backed up by a 3 vdc lithium battery for up to ten years in the absence of power.
